Georgetown University AP credit

What each AP score earns at Georgetown University for 2026-2027: 29 exams, credit shown in credits. Always confirm with the school before you plan your schedule.

Rules that apply to every exam

  • Georgetown does not award exemption or credit for AP scores of 1, 2, or 3, and does not award sophomore standing.
  • There is no limit to the number of AP credits that can be awarded.
  • AP credits may be used to graduate early; students should consult their faculty advisor or Dean's Office about course selection.
  • If a student takes a course for which AP credit was received, the student forfeits the AP credit for that course.
  • Foreign language AP credit is awarded only after successful completion of an appropriate Georgetown course, with placement exams required.
  • If a student has AP and IB scores eligible in the same subject, credit may be applied from the AP exam or the IB exam, but not both.
  • Students taught college-level courses by high school faculty are not eligible for credit in those courses.
  • AP credit for a given subject may not be used for more than one history course, and history credit may come from only one AP or IB history exam.
  • This policy is reviewed annually and is subject to change.
