Emory University AP credit

What each AP score earns at Emory University: 33 exams, credit shown in credits. Always confirm with the school before you plan your schedule.

Rules that apply to every exam

  • Students may receive up to 12 credit hours toward graduation through acceptable AP, IB, or other internationally recognized test scores.
  • Students with more than four acceptable test scores may receive a non-credit-bearing course waiver for each additional test.
  • Unless otherwise stated, each course carries 3 credit hours required for graduation.
  • Where two exams are offered in one field, credit is offered for one but not both exams.
  • Students who take both AP and IB tests for the same course are eligible to have only one test posted for that course.
  • All test scores submitted through the Office of Admission are audited during the first year to ensure accurate posting.
  • No Emory credit is awarded for AP exams not listed in this policy.
  • History majors may use a maximum of six hours of AP and IB history credit toward a history major; these credits cannot satisfy a major distribution area requirement.
